Our

STORY

Rockin’ K Publishers, LLC is a new publishing company, and a small one. It’s a different kind of publishing company. This company is the beginning of a dream for an author. It was founded and is owned and operated by one disabled author.

Does that mean it is insignificant? No! The opposite!

My name is Daryl Koerth, and I’m that disabled author who founded and owns Rockin’ K Publishers, LLC. True to my storytelling gift, let me tell you a bit about this publishing company...and, as it relates to the story, myself and my family. I promise it won’t take too long.

I’ve been writing since I was very young. I remember being singled out by a teacher’s note to my Mom when I was in fourth grade because a paper I had written about the battle of the Alamo (we’re Texans) was “definitely above fourth grade reading, writing, and comprehension expectations.” In other words, I was writing at a high school level when I was in fourth grade. Oops. My aspirations of “authorhood” began then.

I was raised with a solid conviction that success requires hard work. High intelligence helps, but hard work makes it happen. Plan smart, work hard, never give up, and celebrate your victories.

These same tenets have become my company philosophy.

Both of my grandfathers were military veterans who had survived “the big ones.” My maternal grandfather (dubbed “Pop-Pop” by me as his eldest grandchild) went to Korea and Vietnam with the Air Force. My paternal grandfather (“Grandpa”) fought in World War II with the Army. Pop-Pop came home and became a pharmacist, then an auto mechanic. Grandpa came home and started a little cattle ranch.

That’s where the company name and logo come from: the rocking K is our family’s cattle brand, though we haven’t raised cattle since Grandpa passed away. Did we ever actually brand our cattle? No. We had no need to do that, as we didn’t have to deal with rustlers (thieves). It’s just a symbol; a brand that symbolizes the family business. Since that symbol was no longer in use, and played a big part in my life, I asked my Dad’s permission to use it and the name. He said yes, and Rockin’ K Publishers, LLC was born.

I’m an author, though. Why did I start a publishing company? There are lots of reasons, but I’ll tell you the most personal. I believe certain stories are very important. We build ourselves and our lives upon certain stories. I, therefore, refuse to cede ownership of my stories to a big company who would twist and change them into an unrecognizable farce that meets a pre-determined sales formula.

Am I just a little protective of my writing? Yes.

I’m also very happy that you found my publishing company on the web. Welcome, and enjoy the site and the stories you find here!
